I give up my heart, which is a burning apple
That sets
on fire
my hands and my feet.

I unfold my hands, who crave wealth as an armed man
To put
to rest
the slumbering thief

As I wait
I wait to be
to be home with you.

I take up the news, which is the coin recovered
To protect
my head
with light in the shade

I open my eyes, which are a dreams awakening
To hear
the King
calling my name

As I wait
I wait to be
to be home with you.

I call to my soul, which is a traveling shadow
To resound
recall
His deeds I forgot

You open my mouth, which is a pit on fire
And placed
inside
the applause you redeemed

As I wait
I wait to be
to be home with you.

from home
is where i wait
and find
i’m already home.

I lift up my head, which is my will unhindered
To embrace
the help
coming down the hill

I give up my heart which a throne of the Righteous
To receive
the hope
of your kingdom come

As I wait
I wait to be
to be home with you.

My wife told me that my foster Daughter pick a book for me to read for her, and it was “Sailing alone around the room” by Poet Billy Collins.
We both laughed, and then I realized, well maybe. I mean, one of my favorite poems is quite funny, and includes a dog… and she loves dogs!
Here is the Poem:

Another Reason Why I Don’t Keep A Gun In The House

The neighbors’ dog will not stop barking.
He is barking the same high, rhythmic bark
that he barks every time they leave the house.
They must switch him on on their way out.

The neighbors’ dog will not stop barking.
I close all the windows in the house
and put on a Beethoven symphony full blast
but I can still hear him muffled under the music,
barking, barking, barking,

and now I can see him sitting in the orchestra,
his head raised confidently as if Beethoven
had included a part for barking dog.

When the record finally ends he is still barking,
sitting there in the oboe section barking,
his eyes fixed on the conductor who is
entreating him with his baton

while the other musicians listen in respectful
silence to the famous barking dog solo,
that endless coda that first established
Beethoven as an innovative genius.

So, what do you think? would a 21 month get it?

I seem to think if I could make a cartoon out of this she would watch it and laugh.
I mean… come on “the famous barking dog solo”… that’s a funny image!

what do you think? should I read it to her?
